Hi. Funny story. Not funny ha ha. Not even funny weird. Funny as in “will the giant boulders of Vesuvius just fall on me now FOR GOD’S SAKE!”
I have a flair for the dramatic, can’t you tell.
This is me after committing to beginning the 90-mile return trip home, after leaving work in Boston at 7:30 at night, and finding that, thanks to my own absolute ineptitude at learning from my mistakes the first time around, my dang Dodge Avenger won’t start! No sweet-80s themed car anthem can make me smile at the fact that it will take another hour before I can even think about heading for home. In case you couldn’t tell, I am not amused.
So, let’s play a game, shall we ?
I took this from Ashley’s blog, English Major’s Junk Food:
Book next to your bed right now: There are several, considering my night stand doubles as a mini bookcase. But SINCE I AM NOT HOME RIGHT NOW, I’ll have to use recall memory and suppose that The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay still claims its spot beside my cushy pillows.
Favorite series: Oof, have I ever read a series? Oh God, Twilight. NOT my favorite. Um, the Bernstein Bears?
Favorite bookS: The Stranger by Albert Camus, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, The Double by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Matilda by Roald Dahl, Horton Hatches an Egg by Dr. Seuss, and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
The one book you would have with you if stranded on a desert island: This would be the only time I’d want a Kindle, filled with my favorite books. If that’s a cop-out, then my answer is Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales.
Book/series you would take with you on a long flight: The Historian.
Worst book you were made to read in school: Um… I seem to have repressed those memories. Oh, I couldn’t get into anything by L.M. Montgomery.
Book that everyone should be made to read in school: We by Eugene Zamyatin.
Book that everyone should read, period: Reason for Hope by Jane Goodall.
Favorite character: It’s like choosing a favorite book, simply can’t be done. However, I adore Oskar Schell from Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Or Gatsby.
Best villain: Napoleon the pig in Animal Farm.
Favorite concept series: I don’t really read series, remember? Don’t they all have concepts?
Favorite invented world: We by Eugene Zamyatin or The Simulacra by Philip K. Dick.
Most beautifully written book: The Awakening by Kate Chopin (I have to agree with Ashley here).
Funniest book: The Pleasure of My Own Company by Steve Martin.
Let me know if you re-post this!!!

Great list! I never thought about Grimm but that would be great for stranded island reading. I love all of your favorite books!
Oh Becca :(
I know :(
And thanks, Ash! Was so happy to find the list on your blog!
